Heard of the “Alkaline Diet”?
The theory is that some foods are acid-producing, which are bad👎🏻, whilst others are alkaline - good for you👍🏻. Sorry to break this to ya but it’s yet again #ANOTHERFADDIET 🤦🏻♀️
💁🏻 Here’s the truth:
👐🏻 Your body remains it’s tightly regulated pH balance (around pH 7.4) regardless of what you eat👌🏻. Give your body some credit! It does its job pretty well.
🥑 The alkaline diet promotes eating more fruits and veggies, and limiting processed food, soda - this is good, and what we generally promote as our healthy eating principles 🙌🏻
🥚 However, dairy, eggs, meat, legumes and most grains are considered acidic-forming. These foods are protein rich, whereas grains form staples across different cultures🌎. Cutting out these food items limits both macronutrient and micronutrient intake🌚. It deemed unnecessary to categorise food into “good” and “bad”, food shaming is strongly unsupported, especially without any sound scientific evidence to support it🤷🏻♀️! #sorrynotsorry
💬 I have honestly heard too much about the #alkalinediet (locker room talk, even from family members😞) and people are actually paying for this advice💸. Guys, please take legitimate advice from Registered Dietitians as they provide evidence-based advice🙋🏻. Protect yourself and choose who you seek advice from wisely💕.
